This website is intended to provide support to the Monterey county teachers, schools and districts in the development and implementation of math programs that are aligned with California Mathematics Content Standards and the California Standards for the Teaching Profession. We will be continuously adding information, resources and tutorials of value. We invite you to bookmark this site so that you can return periodically to see what's new. Here's what you'll find on the site now. CSET Preparation and Study ClassCSET preparation and study classes are held periodically. These classes help prepare teachers for CSET Mathematics Subtests I, II and III. The cost for these classes is $125 per subtest. Mathematics Materials Module TrainingMCOE Math can provide districts with a selection of nine 3-hour module trainings emphasizing their adopted Math Program. The modules are: Assessment, Technology, Instructional Strategies, Universal Access, Standards, Assessments, Pacing, Program Materials and Balance in the Mathematics Classroom. SB 472 Mathematics TrainingSpend time learning your newly adopted mathematics program, writing lessons and planning your first few weeks of instruction. Learn how your newly adopted mathematics textbooks are aligned to the California State Standards. Plan with colleagues how best to present math content to students. Increase competence and confidence in teaching mathematics. AB 466 / SB 472 Mathematics Follow-Up OpportunitiesThis is for teachers who need to compile follow-up hours for AB 466 and/or SB 472 mathematics. Districts can contract with the MCOE Mathematics Department. 2007 Math AdoptionIn November 2007, the California State Board of Education adopted materials for three different types of programs for math instruction: basic programs for grades kindergarten through Algebra 1, materials for students who need intervention in grades 4 through 7, and Algebra Readiness materials adopted for 8th- and 9th-graders not ready for Algebra. Mathletics 2012Mathletics is a math contest held annually to encourage excellence in mathematics and to recognize the achievement of individual students and the schools they represent. Monterey County students from 5th-grade through Calculus can compete. The 2012 date is May 12. For more information please visit our Mathletics site. Strengthening Mathematics Instruction in High SchoolsWe offer no-cost professional development training for secondary schools, sponsored by the California State University. MCOE can arrange to have this math training brought to your school. The training consists of 16-24 hours, broken into small modules that can be delivered after school, on weekends, or during the school day.
