Monterey County Office of Education's MCAET Partners with the Monterey County Business Council to Host Affordable Home Internet Service Workshop


Salinas, CA – Through a federally funded grant received by the Monterey County Office of Education from the Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP), Community Connection provides access to public computer centers and free technology training throughout Monterey County. Community Connection and the Monterey County Business Council are hosting a Comcast workshop on offering home Internet service for $9.95 a month to low-income households.

The community workshop will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Monterey County Office of Education, located at 901 Blanco Circle in Salinas, to launch the Comcast Internet Essentials program.

Families with children who qualify for the free and reduced lunch program through their school may qualify for the Comcast Internet Essentials program. Additionally, homes that qualify may also take advantage of purchasing low-cost computers through either Comcast Internet Essentials or locally through Loaves & Fishes & Computers.

Loaves & Fishes & Computers will be at the workshop along with representatives from Community Connection, including MCOE’s Media Center for Art, Education & Technology (MCAET).
