Quality Education Investment Act (QEIA)
The Quality Education Investment Act (QEIA) was signed into statute in 2006 under Senate Bill 1133. The purpose of the legislation was to improve student academic success in California's lowest performing schools by creating substantially improved conditions for teaching. Schools that applied for QEIA funds are required to meet targets in the following areas.
- Academic Performance Index (API) Growth (required by 2010-2011)
- Average Teacher Experience
- Class Size Reduction
- Highly Qualified Teachers
- Professional Development for Teachers and Paraprofessionals
- Williams Settlement requirements
