Advisory Redistricting Commission For the Monterey County Board of Education to Meet
Wednesday, Oct 6, 2021
Salinas, Calif. – The Advisory Redistricting Commission (“ARC”), tasked with developing a proposal for the possible redistricting of the seven trustee areas of the Monterey County Board of Education, will meet Monday, October 18, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. via Zoom, following guidance established in Assembly Bill 361. In jurisdictions that elect board members by trustee areas, redistricting involves the review of outlined areas following each Decennial Federal Census. The reviews serve to determine if boundary adjustments are necessary to balance trustee area populations. The “ARC” will be presented relevant census data by demographers Gobalet, Lapkoff, and Merrill. Using that data, the commission will develop a redistricting plan that will be submitted to the Monterey County Board of Education for their review and approval. The “ARC” Members are:
- Aaron Salsberg
- Diego Jacob Sandoval
- Heather Peacock
- Jeanette Walton
- Karma Simons
- Loren Steck
- Lucio Rios
- Regina Mason
- Sue Midori-Jones
- Tama Olver
- Vanessa Michelle Robinson
The public is welcome to attend this and all future Commission meetings. The Zoom link will be provided on each agenda and will be posted on the MCOE Board Agendas page.
