Salinas, CA – On Friday, May 2, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., approximately 200 special education students in Kindergarten through 12th grade will come together for an inspiring Field Day at Rabobank Stadium (Salinas Sports Complex), located at 175 Maryal Drive in Salinas. Students from Monterey County Office of Education (MCOE) programs across the county will participate in this heartwarming event themed Down on the Farm.

Designed specifically for students with moderate to severe disabilities, the day will feature a wide range of inclusive activities such as the football throw, golf, ring toss, soccer kick, and a variety of wheelchair and running races. These events not only encourage physical activity but also celebrate each student’s individual strengths, determination, and the power of community.

High school students from Carmel High School will serve as event volunteers and assist MCOE team members who coordinate all of the games and festivities. Interacting with special education students, Carmel High School volunteers have the opportunity to create a nurturing environment of trust, friendship, and mutual understanding.
“Field Day is a joyful celebration that allows our special education students to shine through engaging in playful, physical experiences with their peers,” said Dr. Deneen Guss, Monterey County Superintendent of Schools. “It’s a day filled with smiles, cheers, and unforgettable moments of triumph.”
