The Excellence in Education Award selection was made by representatives of the Monterey County School Boards Association. “Our Association was so impressed with the Food Bank’s efforts to end hunger in our community, and their strong focus on addressing the nutritional needs of children,” said David Gaboni, MCSBA President. “The ongoing pandemic has been especially hard on kids, and the Food Bank has helped to provide the steady nourishment needed to help our students concentrate and retain information in school, and maintain the energy to play and learn.”

“We are extremely grateful for the collaborative efforts of the Food Bank, helping to ensure our children have a continuous and reliable supply of nutritious food,” said Dr. Deneen Guss, Monterey County Superintendent of Schools. “We are proud to recognize them with this year’s 2022 Excellence in Education award.”
