Local High School Students to Participate in Academic World Quest Competition
Monterey County, CA - The Monterey County Office of Education (MCOE) is pleased to announce its partnership with the World Affairs Council of Monterey Bay Area (WACMB) to hold a local Academic World Quest Competition among county high school teams of students on Saturday, February 11, 2023.
The World Affairs Council of Monterey Bay Area is a non-profit, non-partisan organization whose mission is to promote public education, raise the standards of public debate, and encourage dialogue through the study and discussion of international issues. MCOE shares the conviction of WACMB that we need to prepare our youth for the globally interconnected world.
Academic WorldQuest (AWQ) is a team game testing high school student’s knowledge of international affairs. In the game, four-person teams compete by answering questions divided into ten categories, which reflect some of the most critical global and U.S. foreign policy issues. The winner is the team with the most correct answers.
The WACMB is raising money through MCGives! to pay for the expenses of the winning team to participate in the 21st Annual National Academic WorldQuest Competition in Washington D.C. on April 28-29, 2023.
Study Guides for AWQ for teachers and students and rules of participation are available on the following website: https://www.worldaffairscouncils.org/WorldQuest/
