Salinas, CA – The Monterey County Office of Education (MCOE) is proud to host the second annual Safe and Healthy Schools and Communities Leadership Breakfast, taking place on Friday, April 25, 2025, from 8:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the Salinas City Center, One Main Street, Salinas.

This special event will bring together members of the Monterey County Safe and Healthy Schools and Communities Coalition (MCSHSCC), a robust, countywide, multi-agency collaborative comprised of leaders from school districts, charter schools, first responders, community-based organizations, and local government departments and agencies.

The Leadership Breakfast offers an opportunity to highlight the MCSHSCC’s collective achievements and unveil new initiatives aimed at supporting the physical, emotional, and mental well-being of students and families throughout Monterey County. The morning will be centered on deepening cross-sector collaboration, strengthening community partnerships, and sharing impactful strategies that are transforming the health and safety landscape of our schools and neighborhoods.

“The purpose of this Leadership Breakfast is to update key leaders in our community on the vital work being done to create safe, supportive learning environments,” said Dr. Deneen Guss, Monterey County Superintendent of Schools. “It’s also a time to sharpen our collective focus on the well-being of every child and every family across our county.”

The program will feature success stories from coalition partners and explore the evolving needs of students, families, and educators. The event also serves as a platform to honor the recipients of the prestigious Child Abuse Prevention Council (CAPC) award, as well as the annual MCSHSCC Safe Schools Leadership Award.

MCOE’s continued investment in this annual event reflects its deep commitment to fostering a culture of safety, inclusivity, and shared leadership that uplifts and protects the entire community.
