Inclusion & Immigrant Resources

Message from Monterey County Superintendent of Schools
Dear Community:
Recent developments regarding immigration policies and federal funding have created uncertainty and concern within our educational community. As always, the Monterey County Office of Education (MCOE) stands firmly committed to ensuring that all students, regardless of their background or immigration status, have access to a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

We want to emphasize that our schools remain safe spaces for all students and families and strongly encourage you to continue sending your children and youth to school, as their education and well-being are our top priorities. Our educators and staff are dedicated to fostering a welcoming environment where every student can learn and thrive without fear or discrimination.
To support our students and families, we have been working with our local and state legislators, as well as county partners to collect and share resources, which you will find on this webpage. The resources include guidance on student rights, access to legal aid, and community support services.
Please know that MCOE remains committed to keeping our families informed and supported through these uncertain times. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
Sincerely,
Dr. Deneen Guss, Ed.D.
Monterey County Superintendent of Schools
