CEY and TOY awards and plaques2018 MONTEREY COUNTY TEACHER OF THE YEAR AND 2017 CLASSIFIED SCHOOL EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR (CSEY) NOMINEES AND AWARD WINNERS HONORED

Teacher of the Year Program
The Teacher of the Year Program honors the teaching profession and outstanding teachers who successfully employ strategies to increase academic success and narrow the achievement gap with a range of diverse students.

Classified School Employee of the Year Program
The CSEYP highlights the contributions of classified school employees who support the education of California’s public school students in preschool through grade 12. There are six categories of classified employees who are recognized in both the Monterey County and State recognition programs.

Selection Process
Each participating school district and charter school conducts its own local Teacher of the Year Program and Classified School Employee of the Year Programs, following its own internal process, and forwards nominees to the MCOE 2018 Teacher of the Year and 2017 Classified Employee of the Year Programs.

MCOE conduct a selection process, and all nominees are honored locally at a spring event. One teacher is named Monterey County Teacher of the Year. This teacher serves as the County’s representative to the 2018 California Teacher of the Year Program. Six exemplary classified school employees throughout Monterey County move forward for consideration in the California Department of Education’s Classified School Employee of the Year Program.
