Intent to Fill Monterey County Board of Education Vacancy for Trustee Area One

Salinas, Calif. - Applications are requested from community members to fill the Monterey County Board of Education’s Trustee Area One Board seat vacated by the passing of incumbent Harvey Kuffner, whose term was to expire in November 2022.

The County Board of Trustees will interview candidates publicly at its regular meeting scheduled at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 10, 2021. Appointment of the new Trustee will take place immediately following the interviews.

The newly appointed Trustee will serve until November 2022, when the provisional term for this seat will expire. The seat will then be open for a four-year provisional term at the general election to be held in November 2022.

Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, reside within Trustee Area One (consisting mainly of New Monterey, Pacific Grove, Del Monte Forest, Carmel-by-the-Sea, Carmel Valley, and Big Sur), and be a registered voter. Interested persons are invited to submit an application addressed to:
