Salinas, Calif. – Monterey County Office of Education Head Start Program is currently recruiting for preschool children for the 2016-2017 program year. Families with children ages 0 to 5 are encouraged to apply. Preschool classes will begin in August 2016. Home based services for children ages 0-3 will begin in July.

Head Start provides an education program for preschool children ages 3-5 years. Children with special needs or disabilities are welcome. Every child enrolled in Head Start is involved in a variety of learning experiences which fosters intellectual, social, and emotional growth. Such experiences include:

  • Large Group Activities
  • Small Group Activities
  • Outdoor Play for physical development
  • Breakfast, family style lunches and/or snack

In Head Start, children learn to:

  • Become socially and personally confident.
  • Become effective learners in early literacy, writing and math.
  • Develop self-confidence and initiative.
