Monterey County Will Not Be Impacted by Second Public Safety Power Shutoff This Week.

The Monterey County Office of Emergency Services has confirmed that Monterey County WILL NOT be impacted by the next shutoff.

We are working with Monterey County Office of Emergency Services and PG&E to confirm shutoff sites for October 26, 2019.

List updated October 27, 2019 - 5:27 p.m., 5:45 p.m., 6:00 p.m., 9:20 p.m. and October 28, 2019 at 6:45 a.m.

Good evening Monterey County families,

PG&E has announced a possible Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) incident that is expected to impact PG&E customers in Monterey County, including Chualar, Gonzales, Mission, Soledad, Lagunita and North Monterey County schools, starting at 7:00 p.m. this evening, Saturday, October 26 through Monday, October 28. PG&E will schedule a PSPS at times of extreme weather conditions and fire risk which may occur during school hours. For more information, you may visit the PG&E power shutoff page here.

As of this time, the following schools in Chualar, Gonzales, Mission, Soledad, Lagunita and North Monterey County appear to be affected by this planned outage:

This could change and may impact fewer sites. The Monterey County Office of Education is in constant communication with Monterey County Office of Emergency Services and PG&E, and we will continue to monitor the impact.

Due to the power shutoff the schools listed above may or may not be CLOSED on Monday October 28. Districts will be sending detailed communications to school families soon to confirm.

Officials recommend staying inside as much as possible this weekend and having emergency supplies ready. We will provide an update tomorrow afternoon to let you know if changes or additions have been made to power outages plans.
