NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Monterey County Committee on School District Organization will hold a Public Hearing in accordance with California Education Code Section 5019(c)(2) for the purpose of taking public comment on the matter of the Monterey County Committee on School District Organization’s approval and establishment of trustee areas for the election of Gonzales Unified School District Governing Board Members and adoption of a method of election in which the board members will be elected in a by-Trustee Area Election Process.  

The public hearing before the Monterey County Committee on School District Organization has been scheduled for: 

5:00 P.M.

Notice to Employ Individuals on Emergency Permits - May 16, 2022

Pursuant to California Code of Regulations Title 5, Section 80026, any agency that has a need to employ individuals on emergency permits must post a public announcement at least 72 hours prior to adopting the Declaration of Need for Fully Qualified Educators. This Declaration certifies there are an insufficient number of fully credentialed persons who meet the specified employment criteria required for the Certificated Positions listed below:

  • Teacher, General Education
  • Teacher, Special Education
  • Teacher of English Learners

This Declaration shall remain in force until June 30, 2023

Variable Term Waiver - March 21, 2022

Please be notified that pursuant to Education Code Section 44300 and in accordance with Section 44252(b) & 44253.3, the following individual(s) have been assigned to classroom(s) utilizing the following option(s):

Variable Term Waiver

  • Cynthia Pangantihon has been assigned as a Teacher, Special Education Moderate/Severe 6th grade - age 22, at Gabilan School for the 2021/2022 school year.

    Variable Term Waiver issuance date will be 4/1/2022

CBEST Waiver Substitutes

The Monterey County Office of Education (MCOE) declares that we have been unable to recruit enough day-to-day substitute teachers who have had an opportunity to take and pass the California Basic Education Skills Test (CBEST). MCOE anticipates employing 20 day-to-day substitutes on variable term CBEST waivers for the 2021-2022 school year.
