Purposes of the ELAC

To provide parents of English learners opportunities to:

1. Participate in the school's needs assessment of students, parents, and teachers.

2. Advise the principal and school staff on the school's program for English learners.

3. Provide input on the most effective ways to ensure regular school attendance, completion of assignments, and parent participation.

4. Advise the Governance Council and school administration on the development of the Local Control Action Plan (LCAP).

ELAC Composition

English Learner Parent Members:

• The percentage of parents of English Learners in the ELAC must be at least equal to the percentage of English Learners in the school.

• Other Committee Members:

  • Principal or Designee
  • Teachers of English Learners
  • Resource Teachers
  • Instructional Aids
  • Other Parents
