Culture of Belonging, Safety, & Care

Safe & Welcoming Environments

The Monterey County Office of Education is committed to supporting the welfare and success of all of our students and families in safe and welcoming environments.

MCOE Superintendent Dr. Deneen Guss engages local leaders in discussions about relevant issues and promising practices related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

School Emergency & Safety Plans

The Monterey County Office of Education provides leadership for the development of school emergency and safety plans. The County has adopted the Big Five training program that was designed by colleagues at the San Mateo County Office of Education in order to update our response mechanism for active shooter and mass violence attacks.

Inclusive & Nurturing Early Education

The Monterey County Office of Education (MCOE) Educational Services Division assists early learning educators across the region in creating inclusive and nurturing early education classrooms that support the development of young children. Early learning experiences help build a child's educational foundation, giving them the tools and skills they need to be successful in school, careers, and interpersonal relationships.
