Social Emotional Learning & Trauma Informed Care
Social Emotional Learning & Trauma Informed Care
The Monterey County Office of Education supports Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and Trauma Informed Care as essential components of safe, healthy, and inclusive school environments. Through this work, MCOE partners with schools and community agencies to promote student well-being, resilience, and positive outcomes by addressing the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of all learners.
This approach emphasizes the integration of interconnected systems, including Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), student behavioral health initiatives, bullying prevention, and youth mental health training. By providing guidance, professional learning, and evidence-based resources, MCOE helps schools build supportive practices that foster belonging, strengthen relationships, and respond effectively to trauma, ultimately supporting student success both in and out of the classroom.
