SELPA

SELPA Program Specialists offer consultation and support by request. These services may include classroom observations, in-class coaching, demonstration lessons, meetings with staff, and attendance at IEP meetings. 

At school district or parent request, SELPA can provide staff to assist in resolving disputes that develop between a district and parents.

The SELPA sponsors free workshops to educators serving students in Monterey County and to parents of students with disabilities. A catalog of workshops is available for viewing and download at the website shown on the left. Monthly fliers are also distributed by email to special educators and administrators throughout the school year. Please register for each SELPA workshop using the OMS system by going to our website and then clicking on Professional Development.

The following materials and equipment can be found in the new online library. Use the search field to find specific items such as low incidence.

Click on the blue button below to access the SELPA Library.

Use the search field to locate a specific item by title or category.

Use the category button to search all items available within a specific category.

Once the items are displayed, move your cursor to hover over any item you are interested in to find out if it is available or currently checked out.

To request an item, click on the purple “Hold” button. An email will automatically be sent to SELPA.

You will be contacted as soon as the item is ready for pick up.

If you request items from the AAC library, you will receive an email with two forms that need to be completed so that SELPA staff can verify the completion of an AAC Needs Assessment for the identified student.

If you request an Equipment Transfer from the Low Incidence Inventory, you will need to submit a low incidence packet to SELPA (see LI procedures).

SELPA staff is available to assist school districts in conducting program reviews to monitor compliance and program effectiveness as well as to provide feedback and technical assistance to address improvement goals.

Program specialists may be contacted directly via telephone or email for brief single contact consultations; staff should contact the program specialist by areas of expertise (see chart below).

More general questions may be directed to any program specialist.

When more specific assistance is required, a program specialist may be assigned by the SELPA.
