About Fall 2 Data

Fall 1 data include enrollment counts, English Language Acquisition, immigrant counts, Free and Reduced price meal eligibility, special education, and previous year dropouts.

Fall 1 data impact the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF), which is the primary source of an LEA's general purpose funding; Special Education (AB 602), and funding for several other programs. Data that are certified on the initial December certification deadline are used to calculate the first principal apportionment, and the data that is certified on January's final certification deadline are used to calculate the second Principal Apportionment. 

Fall 1 data are published on public sites, i.e., the California School Dashboard, pre-populate the School Accountability Report Card (SARC), determine inclusion in subgroups, i.e., socio-economic disadvantaged, affecting monitoring, i.e., IDEA, grants, etc.

Fall 1 File Submissions

There are 8 templates used to upload data to CALPADS in Fall 1: 

Together the above makes up the "Student Profile". Though certification is due in December, student profile data should be uploaded to CALPADS promptly and kept current throughout the year. Best practice is to manage the data at the source (e.g., Student Information System) and upload them to CALPADS. Uploading is preferable over manual input because it minimizes duplication of effort and ensures the data are consistent between systems.
