Nutrition Services

During COVID-19 school closures, all schools/districts provided nutrition services for students. Plans were developed to ensure the safety and health of students and employees. 

PLEASE NOTE: During the summer break between the 2019-2020 and the 2020-2021 school year, some districts are continuing to serve meals and/or distribute food to their communities.

District Plans for Nutrition Services During Summer

Alisal Union School District

Meals for pick-up are available for children ages 1 to 18 at the following sites. Dates, times and meal information follows each site:

  • El Dorado Park M & W 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. Lunch & Snack
  • Hebbron Family Center M & W 11:30 – 12:30 p.m. Lunch & Snack
  • Cesar Chavez Library M & W 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. Lunch & Snack
  • Creekside Elementary School Tu & Th 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Breakfast & Lunch
  • Dr. Oscar F. Loya Elementary School Tu & Th 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Breakfast & Lunch
  • Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Academy Tu & Th 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Breakfast & Lunch
  • Bardin Elementary School Tu & Th 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Breakfast & Lunch

Chualar Union School District

Meals will continue to be distributed to Chualar USD students on Monday for the whole week. Pick-up time will continue to be from 9 a.m. - 10 a.m. for all students ages 1-18. Meals will continue to be distributed in an easy drive-thru or walk-up method respecting all social distancing procedures. Chualar USD intends to run the summer meal program until July 31.

Gonzales Unified School District

From June 15th through July 28th, grab-and-go breakfast and lunch will be available at the following locations on Monday and Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Monday distribution will be for one day only; Tuesday distribution will provide meals for the remainder of the week:

Greenfield Union School District

Greenfield will be operating a Summer Meal Program for ages 1-18 on Mondays and Wednesdays from June 8th through July 31st. Meals are distributed on those two days between 8:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. at the following sites:

  • Arroyo Seco Academy
  • Cesar Chavez Elementary

King City Union School District

King City Union School District will be offering meals during the summer from June 15th through July 17th. Breakfast and lunch will be available every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. at Arts Magnet. Mondays and Thursdays will include breakfast and lunch for the following day (Tuesday and Friday). 

Monterey Peninsula Unified School District

Summer Feeding Program will available from June 8th through July 24th (except July 3rd). Meals are available Monday - Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the following sites:

  • Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. School of the Arts
  • La Mesa Elementary (from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.)
  • Marshall Elementary
  • Marina Vista Elementary
  • Los Arboles Middle
  • Seaside High

North Monterey County Unified School District

Every Monday “once a week meal distribution”. Families will be provided for each child 7 days of meals (7 lunches and 7 breakfasts) to take home for the week with special directions for proper storage and preparation of meals at home. The drive-thru/walk up will be available between 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Castroville Elementary. In addition, there will be extended hours from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at NMC High School and a Supper Meal program will be every Tuesday - Friday from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Click here for more information.

Pacific Grove Unified School District

In July, PGUSD will provide a limited number of “lunch vouchers” for students in need. In partnership with local restaurants such as Bagel Kitchen, Michael’s Taqueria, and Mountain Mike’s, the voucher may be used to redeem a free lunch meal at any one of the participating restaurants, each weekday in July.

If you would like to apply for the vouchers, please fill out this form or email Stephanie Lip, Nutrition Director, at slip@pgusd.org and include the following information:
  1. Name of PGUSD child or children you would like the voucher(s) for.
  2. Address to mail the vouchers to.

Salinas City Elementary School District

Salinas City Elementary School District has transitioned its Food Distribution into our Seamless Summer Feeding Program. We will now be serving meals, Monday through Thursday, at three locations from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. to any child(ren), ages 1 to 18. This includes any siblings, regardless of which school/district they attend.

Our three locations are:
Boronda Meadows Elementary (915 Larkin Drive)
Los Padres Elementary (1130 John Street)
El Gabilan Elementary (1256 Linwood Drive)

On Thursdays, an additional meal will be included to have for Friday.

Salinas Union High School District

Summer 2020 Meal Distribution schedule is as follows:
  • Locations: La Paz MS, Harden MS and Salinas HS
  • Meal Serving time: 10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.
  • Days - Mondays and Wednesdays 
  • June 8 through July 8

San Ardo Union School District

San Ardo will be providing grab-and-go breakfast and lunches for all children in the area, including high school students over the summer beginning June 11th and ending August 5th when we resume school. Meals will be offered Monday - Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. SMCJUHSD is providing the meals for distribution.

Soledad Unified School District

Soledad Unified School District will be continuing it's Grab-N-Go meal service at San Vincente and Jack Francioni elementary schools as well as Soledad High School. We provide breakfast, lunch and supper in one pick up. Families can pick up their meals at the school site that is convenient for them. Meals are served from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 pm.. and will be available through June 30, 2020.

South Monterey County Joint Union High School District

Summer Meal Program will offer one breakfast and lunch daily and will run June 8th through July 24th from Monday - Friday at the following sites:

  • King City High School from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
  • Greenfield High School from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
